FOSTUR Expands Sea Turtle Conservation Efforts to Playa Hermosa
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica — FOSTUR (Friends of Sea Turtles) is proud to announce the expansion of its sea turtle conservation program to Playa Hermosa
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica — FOSTUR (Friends of Sea Turtles) is proud to announce the expansion of its sea turtle conservation program to Playa Hermosa, marking an exciting new chapter in the foundation’s mission to protect endangered sea turtles along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
This expansion allows FOSTUR to extend critical conservation efforts—including beach patrols, nest protection, data collection, and community engagement—to a new nesting beach with significant conservation potential. Playa Hermosa provides important habitat for nesting sea turtles and represents a key opportunity to increase hatchling survival while strengthening long-term research and protection strategies.
“Our work at Playa Hermosa reflects FOSTUR’s commitment to protecting sea turtles where it matters most—on the nesting beaches,” said the foundation. “By expanding into this area, we are increasing our impact while building partnerships with local communities and volunteers who play a vital role in conservation success.”
The Playa Hermosa project will follow the same science-based, ethical conservation approach used across FOSTUR programs, integrating field research, technology, and education to support sustainable outcomes for both wildlife and people.
With this expansion, FOSTUR continues to grow its network of conservation sites, reinforcing its ecosystem-based approach that connects nesting beaches, coastal habitats, and community stewardship.
The future of sea turtle conservation just got stronger at Playa Hermosa. 🐢🌊
